CI Types

Overview

The CI Types section within the Assets Management settings allows you to define categories for different types of assets within the IT environment, ensuring easy tracking of Configuration Items (CIs) such as hardware, software, networking devices, and more.

How to Add a CI Type?

To add a CI type, follow the steps below.

Note: You must have an administrator role to add a CI Type.

Navigate to Settings > Assets Management > CI Types.

The CI Types page is displayed.

Click the New CI Type icon. The New CI Type page is displayed.

Note: All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.

Enter or select the required values in the fields. Please refer to the following table for field names and their descriptions.

Field Description
Name Name or title of the CI type
Parent Type Main category to which the CI type belongs
Icon Visual representation of the CI type

Click Save.

The CI Type is added.

Note: The Edit and Delete icons appear when you hover over a CI type. Click the corresponding icon in the desired type row to update or delete, and confirm your action.

How to Bulk Edit CI Types?

To edit multiple CI types at once, follow the steps below.

On the CI Types page, check the boxes corresponding to the CI types you wish to edit.

Note: As soon as you select a CI type, the Bulk Edit icon is enabled.

Click the Bulk Edit icon. The Bulk Edit dialog is displayed.

CI Types

Select the parent category for the selected CI types from the Parent Type dropdown list and click Save Changes.

Note: You can leave the field empty if you do not want to modify the main category.

The CI types are updated successfully.
